Jewelry Samples
Here you'll find some examples of my work. All of these pieces were inlaid entirely by hand, and most were finished without power tools. This should give you some idea of my aesthetic. Please use these images as inspiration for a commissioned piece of your own.
Black Ceramic Wide Channel Core, and Black Ceramic Channel Core.
Inlaid with Dragon Scale Opal and Ember Opal
This is an example of a set of wedding rings I created. The couple wanted something which reflected their love of all things geeky, and decided a dragon theme was perfect. The song the ring was named after is a piece from The Hobbit by Ed Sheeran. The song refers to the Desolation of Smaug.

Stainless Steel Core
Inlaid with Watch Parts on a blue background.
Inspiration: Rolex Oyster Perpetual
This watch was made for a fine watch collector. One of his watches is a Rolex Oyster Perpetual, so I used that watch as the inspiration for this design. I've made a variety of these pieces, each inspired by a different watch.

Black Ceramic Core
Inlaid with “Yooperlite”
This was an interesting project commissioned by a resident of the Upper Peninsula (UP) of Michigan. Yooperlite is a synete-rich fluorescent sodalite found along the shores of all the Great Lakes, but are most prominent on Michigan’s UP along Lake Superior. Their unique characteristic is their natural fluorescent glow under UV light.

Stainless Steel Core
Inlaid with Pāua Abalone
As a diver, I love the imagery of the abalone shell against the black background in the channel, which is then offset by the polished stainless steel. Abalone dust contains razor sharp edges that cause lesions in the alveoli, which can scar into fibrosis in the lungs. I use an inlay technique that precludes sanding of the actual shell, but it can still be difficult to work with without the proper equipment.

Stainless Steel Core
Inlaid with Fordite from a Jeep plant.
Fordite, also known as Detroit agate or Motor City agate, is old automotive paint which has hardened sufficiently to be cut and polished. It was formed from the buildup of layers of enamel paint slag on tracks and skids on which cars were hand spray-painted (a now automated process), which have been baked numerous times. I then cut and set the fordite in interesting patterns.

Damascus Steel Channel Core
Inlaid with Red and Yellow Polymer Clay
This piece is inlaid with polymer clay, a man-made material that is mixed, set in the channel, and then baked to hardness. Once the ring is cool, I sand the clay to ensure there are no rough edges and then seal the material with UV epoxy.
This was created for a fan of the Marvel Universe in general, and Iron Man in particular.
Tony Stark: “Tell you what, throw a little hot rod red in there.”
J.A.R.V.I.S.: “Yes, that should help you keep a low profile.”
